Garda Vetting

Under the Childcare (Pre-School Services) Regulations 2006, there is a requirement that all staff, students and volunteers who have access to children should be Garda Vetted.  This includes Statutorily Notified Childminders, i.e. those childminders who care for 4 or more pre-school children and are notified to Tusla, the Child and Family Agency.
Childminders that are members of Early Childhood Ireland can apply for Garda Vetting through them. If you are not registered with Early Childhood Ireland, the Barnardos Vetting Service can process your Garda Vetting application.
Garda Vetting is best practice for all childminders, those not required to do so under the Preschool Regulations 2006 can voluntarily opt to be Garda Vetted.
